We will start the morning with a walking tour through the archaeological zone of Uxmal, Workd Heritage Site by UNESCO, where we will discover the secrets of this ancient city decorated with sculptures, very detailed constructions made with thousands of small stones perfectly polished and adjusted to form geometric mosaics of an unprecedented perfection.
Our second stop is the city of Kabah, one of the most relevant settlement on the Puuc Route. We will admire the architecture of the Temple of Codz Pop composed of hundreds of masks of the God Chaac.
Next is a gastronomic stop at one of the typical food places in the region where you can taste Cochinita Pibil and learn the ancestral technique of its preparation.
Would you like to know a little about Mayan writing? Learn to decorate clay vessels in this crafts workshop, where you can paint Mayan codices and understand the meaning of some of their hieroglyphs.
After lunch, we will visit a clay pot crafts workshop in the town of Muna, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the ancestral techniques that the ancient Mayans used to make their ceramics and you will be able to paint your own piece of clay learning to create your own and the meaning of Mayan codex understanding why they wrote, what it meant and its function.
